In this presentation of the UvA/ASCA Research Group 'Moving Images: Preservation, Curation, Exhibition', Amsterdam-based artist Wineke Gartz (Eindhoven, NL, 1968) will be in conversation with researcher Haitian Ma (Television and Cross-media Culture, Department of Media Studies) on their year-long collaboration in documenting Gartz’s artistic practice and living archive. In the presentation, Gartz will reflect on key works from her oeuvre of site-specific installations and the development of her highly performative and organic artistic practice over the past thirty years, including a range of different media. The presentation will lead to a workshop discussion with the audience on how to build, maintain, and activate Gartz’s growing archive of past works, working material and artist documentation.
