Today from 17:00-20.00 hrs, the UvA Film Club will continue their weekly screening in HVL/BuzzHouse’s Co-Working Space! This week's film is a double bill, Lovely Andrea (Steyerl, 2007) and Ein Bild (Farocki, 1983), with an introduction by Theo Du.
This week, we are presenting two films from Hito Steyerl and Harun Farocki, both of whom endlessly questions the intimate relationship between image-culture, politics, and power. This double-bill hones in on Lovely Andrea (Steyerl, 2007) and Ein Bild (Farocki, 1983), two films that delve into the erotic realm. Lovely Andrea sees Steyerl embarking on an tantalizing quest into the sordid world of shibari in search for her own image. While in Ein Bild we are given an anatomy of a Playboy photoshoot. The films neither castrates the carnal by means of analysis, nor does it indulge in the titillating; rather somewhere in between the pleasure of reading a good piece of writing, and the excitement for getting a glimpse of cleavage. Basically, join us this week to experience the promise of an old-school Playboy issue in film form!
